Parent Volunteer Information

The Homeroom Parents Association is a voluntary group comprised of the parents of the students enrolled at St. Hugh Catholic School. This group of parents is an integral part of the school and a source of support to the teachers and administrators. They help plan, coordinate and staff events; organize fundraisers; and generally assist the school staff.

We welcome your participation at any level. Any involvement makes a difference in your child's enrichment and is a great way to become a part of the St. Hugh School Community.

All parents must volunteer a minimum of ten (10) hours of their time toward school activities. These hours can be divided into different events, or you could give them all to one specific event.

The Archdiocese of Miami's Department of Schools mandates that all parents who wish to volunteer for any school activity must be fingerprinted and has taken the Virtus training.

Fingerprinting

Parents that are interested in volunteering for any of the school activities including chaperoning field trips must have fingerprint clearance through the Archdiocese of Miami as well as completion of the Virtus training.

Keep in mind that fingerprints clearance is valid for five years; therefore fingerprints must be retaken every five years.

Volunteers must log on to www.fieldprintflorida.com to schedule an appointment to get their fingerprints taken by the Archdiocese of Miami Background Check Department.

Once you are at the website please do as follows:

  1. Click on “schedule an appointment”
  2. Create a password
  3. Select “I know my Fieldprint Code”
  4. Enter the code (please contact the school office for the code)

What is the VIRTUS?

The VIRTUS Training Program focuses on "Protecting God's Children". The Archdiocese of Miami is committed to providing a safe environment for everyone. The main purpose of the VIRTUS Training Program is to teach each individual involved with the school or parish to recognize and prevent child sexual abuse. This program teaches how to prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse.

Who is required to sign up for this program?

Teachers, staff, and all volunteers who work with minor children must attend one of the VIRTUS training program sessions and are required to read a number of bulletins online per year on the VIRTUS website.

When and where will the VIRTUS training be offered?
